Peterborough Newborn Photography: What You Need to Know Before Hiring Someone!

As a newborn photographer, I understand the value and importance of capturing these early moments of your baby's life!

Let's dive into some of the most common questions about newborn photography.

“What should I look for when hiring a newborn photographer?” It's important to choose a photographer who specializes in newborn photography and has experience working with infants. You should also choose a photographer whose style you love. Every photographer has a different shooting style; they may incorporate bright colours, have a more airy feel, or use more rustic props and accersories. A photographer is not going to change how they curate a session or photograph your newborn, so it is very important to choose a photographer who's style you love.

At my studio, I have years of experience working with newborns and their families. I'm dedicated to providing a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for you and your baby. I understand the importance of capturing these early moments, so we will work together to design and select the perfect sets that will create beautiful, timeless memories that you'll cherish for years to come.

“What can I expect during a Peterborough newborn photography session?” During a newborn photography session, I'll work to create a comfortable and safe environment for your baby, and guide you through the posing process. You can include your family members in the photos, and I encourage parents and siblings to participate in this special moment. If you have any specific poses or props in mind, I'm always happy to incorporate your ideas and preferences into the session.

To capture the best moments, it's important to schedule your newborn photography session as early as possible, ideally within the first 7-10 days of your baby's life. I recommend booking your session as soon as possible during your pregnancy to ensure availability.

With my newborn sessions, I offer several differnt packages that includes imags of baby only as well as baby with parents and siblings. With my Classic Newborn package, I will capture a selection of posed images of babe with the whole family, with both parents, with each parent and with the sibling(s). From here, all attention turns to your new little one. I will have a selection of props and wraps pulled (colour schemes will be chosen ahead of time), and I will proceed to photograph baby in a variety of posed prop setups.

I will wrap up the session on the table-top if babe is co-operating. These images are often ones where babe is naked and posed in a variety of different positions such as Taco, side lay, chin on hands and Froggy. I will do everything I can to ensure that baby is sleeping and restful to capture these images for you.

“Do I need to bring anything?” You don't need to bring much to the session as most of the items your baby will need will be provided by the studio, including props, backdrops, wraps, hats and headbands. However, I encourage you to bring a few personal items that will make your time at the studio more comfortable. Your favourite snack to nibble on, your Stanley, a book, and a comfy change of clothes; getting comfortable after the family photos are complete will help you relax during the rest of the session.

“When will I get my photos?” After the session, you can expect to receive your soft proof gallery in approximately 1-2 weeks. These images have only been lightly edited. You will then choose your favourite images based on the package you purchased. Once your selections have been chosen, final edits will be made on your selected images. In 4-6 weeks time you will be sent a download link to your completed digital gallery. From there you are able to download, print and share your images with your friends and family!

“How much does newborn photography cost?” Newborn photography sessions can range from $300 to $800, depending on the package. I know this might seem like a significant investment, but keep in mind that newborn photography is a specialized service that requires a lot of time, effort, and equipment. I'm dedicated to providing high-quality images & products that you'll cherish for a lifetime!

That being said, I do try to offer a variety of packages that will fit within my clients budget. From my Simple Swaddle package that includes wrapped baby only images to my Luxe package that not only includes family and sibling photos but also a beautiful display piece for your home. No matter the package chosen we will capture elegant, timeless photos of your new little one!
